Local nonprofit, The Cii, has been named the winner of the Enterprise Award at the national Third Sector Awards in London. The organisation managed to bag the award last Thursday after being nominated alongside some of the UK’s leading social enterprises.

Cii staff received the award for their work supporting disadvantaged people from across South Wales to gain skills and qualifications through the renovation of old houses. Since starting in 2016, the organisation has supported over 200 people to build skills, improve their wellbeing and find a job.

The win has come during an exciting time in The Cii’s development, as the company begins to widen its support to help more people, doubling its team of just 6 staff to a team of 12.

A judge on the awards panel said that The Cii had “a very innovative approach – I was impressed by the real ‘virtuous circle of combining regeneration with an impressive skills training programme in an area of considerable need.”

Trystan Jones, Cii Chief Executive, was thrilled by the news: “We are truly delighted to win the Third Sector Enterprise Award for 2022. Following an incredibly challenging 24 months for us and the sector, the recognition of a Third Sector Award means a great deal to our organisation, our team, and the local communities we represent and support.”

“Congratulations to all other award winners and category nominees, your continued work is vital, particularly during these difficult times. Diolch.”
