Position: Multi-Skill Construction Tutor

Responsible to: Head of Operations

Salary: £27,300

The role

We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Multi-Skill Construction Tutors to join our team and play a pivotal role in supporting individuals to build their confidence and learn new skills whilst actively contributing to the regeneration of empty properties. This position goes beyond traditional tutoring by combining education with practical, hands-on experience to empower our participants to build confidence, learn new skills and make positive life improvements.

The key responsibilities

·      Training: Working with your colleagues and supported by our Head of Operations, conduct hands-on training, providing clear and concise instructions to participants. Demonstrate proper construction techniques, safety practices, and industry standards. Offer guidance and constructive feedback to individuals to enhance their skills and understanding. Differentiate methods based on skill and confidence levels of participants being supported.

·      Renovation Management: Oversee and coordinate the renovation of empty houses, ensuring that the project aligns with the learning objectives and timescales agreed. Supervise and guide participants in applying skills to real-world construction projects. Collaborate with other professionals, contractors, and volunteers involved in the renovation process.

·      Individual Support:  With our Head of Engagement & Wellbeing, provide one-to-one and group assistance to participants who may require additional support. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages questions, creativity, and problem-solving.

·      Progress Support: Led by our Head of Engagement & Wellbeing, contribute to project inductions, learning assessments and progress reviews to manage participant progress, barriers and wellbeing.

·      Resource Management: Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and materials required for both instructional and renovation purposes. Assist in budgeting and procurement of necessary resources.

·      Proven experience in the construction industry is essential.

·      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are an important part of this role.

·      Teaching or tutoring experience, preferably in a vocational or adult education setting would be useful, but not important.

·      Strong organisational and project management skills are important.

·      Able to work towards deadlines.

·      If you could speak and communicate through Welsh that would be great but not essential.

·      Our values are important to us and run through everything we do – so it’s equally important to us that our staff share these values.
