Newsletter July 2022

Hello and welcome back to our newsletter!

What a busy time we’ve had during the past few months, where to start! Our Pen y Cymoedd-funded project in Glynneath is well and truly underway. Our participants have already made great strides in the development of personal and employment skills. They’ve completed their Emergency First Aid qualifications and are eagerly awaiting their CITB Health & Safety awareness.

We were highly commended at the inaugural WalesOnline Inclusion & Diversity Awards. We’ve been listed on the NatwestSE100 index as one of the top 100 social enterprises in the UK for the 3rd year running. We’ve been nominated for a Third Sector Enterprise UK award.

Cii Construction has been established as an internal progression pathway for our participants. Our staff team has doubled in size- and it’s only July!

Earlier this month we were delighted to be chosen as finalists in the Social Mobility Champion of the year category at the 1st ever Welsh Diversity & Inclusion Awards. Although we didn’t win, we were ‘Highly Commended’ by the judging panel. Well done to all of the finalists and the well-deserved winners.

kier site visit

Our participants were treated to a site visit at the new leisure centre in Neath. They thoroughly enjoyed their time there, allowing them to understand the daily demands of a construction site, and gain an insight into the wide range of employment routes available to them in the future. Thank you so much to Alison Rees and Kier Construction for organising the visit.

Cii Construction provides an internal work placement and employment progression pathway for our participants whilst allowing us to expand our income base and geographical footprint by providing a professional and not-for-profit trade option for customers.

We continually find a daunting gap between our community regeneration projects and employment – Cii Construction will allow our participants to experience the work environment and become accustomed to the professional skills required to thrive.

Cii Construction is part of the not-for-profit Community Impact Initiative Group, which means that every penny we make is reinvested into our community regeneration activities. We have recruited a highly skilled (and friendly) team of construction staff ready to support you with any renovation, property maintenance, or commercial projects you may have.
